TidalSense
Project | N-WATCH: Nottingham - assessment of Wheeze and Asthma in Children using a novel fast-response capnometer and machine learning |
---|---|
Description |
The N-Tidal device is a high-resolution capnometer that records carbon dioxide levels during 75 seconds of relaxed, normal breathing through a mouthpiece. It transfers that data via 4G to TidalSense’s cloud platform where biomarkers are generated. AI-derived algorithms are then applied to those biomarkers for a variety of use-cases such as the diagnosis of COPD or asthma. The time from breath to diagnostic or monitoring result is under five minutes, allowing N-Tidal to be used as a point of care test. This pilot will evaluate how best this technology can be used to help children with asthma/wheeze. |

Neuronostics Limited
Project | Defining and validating a digital biomarker of epilepsy in children |
---|---|
Description |
BioEP is a tool to help clinicians diagnose epilepsy. It uses data from routine EEG tests to create a computational model of the brain. Using the model, BioEP can indicate the ability of the brain to produce epileptic seizure activity and therefore indicate whether BioEP supports a diagnosis of epilepsy or not. BioEP adds additional information and can be particularly useful when EEGs do not capture any information that is helpful in supporting a diagnosis of epilepsy. BioEP has the potential to speed up reaching an accurate diagnosis and we hope this will help people with suspected epilepsy. |

TRANSDERMAL DIAGNOSTICS LTD
Project | Non-invasive, and needle-free, continuous glucose monitor for children and young people living with diabetes |
---|---|
Description |
CGM devices have undoubtedly improved diabetes treatment but have significant problems, particularly for children, as they can cause skin damage and reactions, altering the correct results. The innovation uses hair follicles to extract fluid from under the skin without damage. This fluid closely reflects blood glucose levels, so patients and parents can use it to plan treatment on a minute-by-minute basis. The device is a wearable with a disposable skin patch. It is a user-friendly and discreet solution. A mobile app communicates results from the patch on the skin to the user's smartphone to provide immediate readings for action. |
